1) Bad Leuitenant: Port of Call New Orleans
Zen like film making from German master.
2) Kick Ass
Deliriously violent and funny American debut for Matthew Vaughan.
3) Predators
Near perfect genre stuff, a robust, sparkling and inspired entrance into the Predators hall of fame.
4) Lovely Bones
Under-rated but deeply moving and quite spectacular.
5) Chico & Rita
Gentle jazzy and affectionate love story. The animation could be lived in.
6) Scott Pilgrim
Hyper-active teenage fantasy carried off with real verve. Knock out funny.
7) We Are What We Are
Mexican cannibals explored in this socio-realist, slow-burning and gut-wrenching horror.
8) Toy Story 3
A vital final piece in a near perfect puzzle.
9) The American
George Clooney works hard to convince us he is a killer, it pays off. A real highlight to a dazzling career.
10) The Road
Gungey, gritty and bleak post-apocalyptic drama beautifully realised by Nick Cave/John Hillcoat axis.
